Back to basics.

It's been a long time since my last update because nothing super exciting has gone on in the past couple months. School is going well. I can't believe the semester is half over already. I've been riding almost everyday. Emphasis on riding, not training. I've also been hitting the gym. It feels so good to lift weights after the long break I've had. Still waiting for my ankles to fully heal. This has definitely taken far longer than anyone expected. Just have to be patient.

That's about it.

Texas Heat.

Oh my word, the Texas heat. This is my first time spending the summer in Texas and the first time I actually have to wake up early to ride and "beat the heat." I am riding every morning and swimming in the afternoons. Sometimes I swim twice a day because it's so darn hot! I absolutely cannot wait to go back to Wisconsin. I am ready for some cooler weather. I am getting pretty well acclimated to the heat though. The daily 92 degree temperature in the apartment doesn't phase me too much anymore. ;)

Nothing too exciting other than that. My boyfriend will be having knee surgery in a couple days. I am so excited for him to be healed up and back on the bike. I know he is too. We never imagined we'd have 3 surgeries between the two of us in one year.

All for now.

Finally, Wisconsin.

I forgot to mention I started riding my bike on the road two days ago. I feel so good, no pain!
Today Alex and I are traveling home to Wisconsin! I can't wait. I haven't been home since Christmas! We are bringing little Heidi with us, it will be her first visit to the cheese state. ;)

This is of Alex and I from his birthday celebration last night! Another fun day in Omaha.
All for now.

Omaha.

I have had a super busy past few days. Friday morning was my very last final exam! Yeahh--I am so glad the semester is over. Right after the exam Alex and I drove straight to Nebraska to catch the tail-end of his mom's surprise birthday party. It was an even bigger surprise that we showed up! The following night the birthday party continued with a big family gathering. Today was spent at the Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha has a great zoo if you're ever in town... and of course visiting with more relatives. Always a fun time when I'm in Omaha.
At the end of this week I will be going back to Wisconsin for a short trip! I haven't been home since Christmas so I am really anxious to get back there.
All for now.

Four weeks.

Yesterday was my 4-week check up with the doctor. My foot, as I already can tell, is healing slower than the first foot...it's about two weeks behind. I won't be on my bike for another 4 weeks! A little longer than I anticipated but I have to walk before I can pedal, lol.

This weekend is the MSU Collegiate Stage race right in town. Should be fun. I will be a corner marshal for the criterium! Oh well, at least I get to watch a bike race. :)

All for now.
